Abattoir is OPEN for Business

Abattoir is OPEN

“Animals need to be slaughtered in a provincially inspected abattoir if farmers want to sell their meat at the retail market,” says Paul Davidson, Board Chair. “Our local abattoir means that live animals won’t have to travel all the way to Prince George – better for the environment, better for the animal, better for the wallet, and better for the farmer, too!”

Behind the scenes, negotiations with financial institutions and potential funders continue. The Board of Directors, with the assistance of Bulkley Valley Consulting, is diligently working toward securing a comprehensive refinancing package that will assure the long term future of the Co-Op.

“We are really hopeful that the financing will come through this year so that we can just stay open,” says Chair of the Board, Paul Davidson. “But even if that isn’t possible it sure feels good just to be able to service the producers through this busy slaughter time.”

There will be a members’ meeting early in 2012.
